FIELD NOTES / 002

Clearer escapes. Quicker retries.

Wormy reached the browser this week. Now we're making the next attempt easier to read—and easier to start.

Release status: browser build 0.1.1 is live on itch.io. Play the updated build on our homepage.

The new package adds a shrinking blue ring around Wormy during the brief protection after manhole travel. It also lets you pause and press R to start over immediately. R remains ignored during active play.

Earlier in the week, we improved the head outline, added a directional minimap arrow, explained head-versus-tail deaths, and put the version on pause and result screens. Those changes were included in the October 9 browser preview.

The next destination: University of Iowa. We're planning river crossings, harder route choices, and a garden-to-garden journey from Drake. Each campus will start with fresh strength and starting length; deaths will restart that campus. The transition foundation is in place, but Iowa is not playable yet.

Next playtest question: does the arrival ring make it clearer when you need to move away from a manhole?

This week's recap covers October 5–11, with the campus-transition groundwork added on October 12. Desktop downloads are separate releases.
